Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta is an Italian dessert of sweetened cream, milk, sugar and  thickened with unflavored gelatin and aromatized with vanilla. It is served with caramel, chocolate sauce or berries in ramekins. For the best result it should be kept in the fridge overnight or at least 6 hours.


Prep time: 15-20 minutes

Chill time: 6 hours

Serve : 6 ramekins

INGREDIENTS:

  • 250 ml whipping cream

  • 350 ml milk

  • 100 gr sugar

  • 1 vanilla bean or 2 tsp extract

  • 3 leaves gelatin

  • Caramel (for serving)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Pour the milk into a bowl and put the gelatin leaves, then set aside.

  • Combine cream and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat stirring frequently.

  • Once the milk boiled pour the milk with gelatin. Whisk the mixture until the gelatin leaves dissolved then remove from the heat.

  • Put the vanilla and stir.

  • Divide the mixture among 6 ramekins or glasses. Place in the fridge to chill at least 6 hours or overnight.

  • Serve with caramel (the recipe for caramel is provided separately in the link below).
